VISTA Members

DASN is proud to have been chosen by the AmeriCorps VISTA program to be a sponsor of VISTA members for local afterschool and summer programs.   This summer, 10 DASN member organizations received a free VISTA Summer Associate for 8 weeks to work directly with students.  The addition of these VISTA members allowed providers to create higher quality experiences for the student participants.  This November, DASN will place 5 full-year VISTA members at organizations that operate afterschool programs.  Their objectives will be to help build capacity for these nonprofit afterschool providers.  VISTA members will do community outreach; program development; grant writing; social media; volunteer coordination and other activities that will create capacity for these agencies to serve more children.   To date, the following agencies have received a VISTA member from DASN:

Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council; Dallas Community Lighthouse; Heart House Dallas; Interfaith Housing Coalition; Jubilee Park and Community Center; Neighborhood Service Council; Richardson ISD; Trinity River Mission; Wesley Rankin Community Center; Wilkinson Center.
