Dallas AfterSchool Network is seeking a Member Services Coordinator to support the efficient and effective delivery of DASN programs and services to afterschool providers. This position manages membership registrations/renewals, client communications, distribution of resources to afterschool sites, and collection of client and student data. In addition, this person fills lead role in hosting DASN’s annual student recognition event, monthly member meetings, and annual community awareness event. Position reports to DASN Director of Member Services and will work closely with the our Volunteer Coordinator, VISTA Leader, Director of Program Quality and Quality Advisors. This role will have extensive contact with DASN clients and other community based organizations.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing the DASN Lending Library and all of its resources (books, games, curriculum) for use by DASN members.
- Managing client contacts in DASN’s database, Constant Contact and Google Groups listserve.
- Researching afterschool organization with viable afterschool programs for DASN to contact.
- Researching potential community partners, special programs and other resources for DASN to contact on behalf of our clients.
In addition, this role will provide support for DASN’s Program Quality Initiative by:
- Developing training event communications (email invitations, calendar postings on DASN website).
- Maintaining DASN training statistics (# of participants, hours of training, # of workshops).
- Preparing training materials for training events – copying, collating, trainer supplies, etc.
- Tracking curriculum implementation at member sites and # of students served.
This person must be:

- Dependable, organized, flexible and a multi-tasker
- An excellent communicator, both written and verbal
- Experienced in customer relations/service
- Comfortable with computer applications and databases

Dallas AfterSchool Network Quality Advisors are an integral component of our Program Quality initiative, designed to improve quality in afterschool programs across our region. These individuals have primary responsibility for validating the quality of select afterschool programs, creating action plans for quality improvement, mentoring programs through continual quality improvement, and promoting best practices in all member programs. This includes using a program evaluation tool, communicating results internally and with program leadership, creating benchmarks, providing one-on-one assistance and resources, collecting examples of high-quality programming, and supporting the implementation of a quality self-assessment program in member agencies.
This position will be closely supervised by the Director of Program Quality with additional direction from the Director of Member Resources. This person will also have direct contact with leaders and other staff of member agencies and programs. This position requires strong communication, evaluation, and organizational skills as well as data management in order to track the progress of quality attainment in programs.
A candidate for this position should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in this project:
- Detailed knowledge of best practices in out-of-school time programming
- Working knowledge of best practices in nonprofit management and resources available to support growth
- Detailed ability to identify covert and overt best practices within a program Strong communication skills to professionally, tactfully, and effectively promote quality improvement
- General knowledge of Dallas as a city and its surrounding areas to understand the cultures and needs inherent in urban out-of-school time programming
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and other Microsoft programs to assist in record collection
- Bachelor’s Degree plus two years experience as staff or supervisor of out-of-school time programs
- Additional experience with Afterschool Quality Advancement Program, degree in education field, and/or experience in staff development, training, and/or evaluation a plus

Dallas AfterSchool Network is in need of part-time administrative support. This person will report to the Executive Director with regular interaction with all DASN staff members.
Job responsibilities include, among others:
- Using QuickBooks to do weekly invoicing and payment collection for accounts receivables.
- Collecting bills payable and receipt documentation weekly to send to Accountant.
- Running regular office errands – bank deposits, post office, supply purchases, catering for events.
- Performing routine data entry and report generation with DASN database.
- Filing and organizing DASN and client materials.
- Managing the Afterschool Job Board on dasn.org.
- Serving as point person for office equipment – printer, telephones, WI-FI, utilities, etc. - and interacting with vendors as necessary.
- Assisting with DASN event management preparations – handling RSVP’s, printing materials and nametags, ordering catering, event set-up/tear-down.
- Providing assistance, as needed, for client or board meetings at DASN offices.
- Managing large mailings – printed and electronic.
- Maintaining organizational and board documentation.
- Maintaining office supplies.
The perfect candidate will:
- Be mature, dependable, organized, flexible and personable
- Demonstrate personal initiative and ability to multi-task
- Have competent computer skills including all Microsoft programs and basic database knowledge
- Have good oral and written communication skills

The position is 20-25 hours/week across 3 -5 days a week to be agreed upon in advance.

Dallas AfterSchool Network is seeking 5 full-year AmeriCorps VISTA members to serve in afterschool programs that are part of DASN. Our goal is to help our member organizations to 1) improve the sustainability of their organization; 2) increase the quality of their programming; or 3) expand the number of children served.
DASN member organizations will submit project applications to DASN for our consideration. DASN will select the projects that we believe will have the greatest impact on an organization or the community overall. The VISTA's placed in DASN's member agencies will be asked to perform any of the following activities depending on the priority needs of the receiving organizations, and therefore the qualified applicant will preferably have experience in one or more of the following:
1. Fundraising - development of individual donor campaigns; assistance with fundraising events; grant writing; researching of grant opportunities.
2. Community Outreach – identify new partner organizations that allow provider to expand or improve services for students; develop relationships with those organizations; create new partnerships.
3. Social Media - create a presence for these organizations on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter in order to mobilize donors, volunteers or client.
4. Marketing/Communications - design or enhance marketing materials (brochures, annual report, newsletter, invitations, etc.); write press releases; write op-eds for the local newspaper; identify media opportunities (TV, radio)
5. Program Design/Expansion - organize and implement programs or services for student population; ensure consistent, efficient, high-quality programs for students.
6. Outcomes Measurement - design a system for or implement an existing system to measure the impact of existing program(s) on students served. Work with parents, school and other community partners to collect necessary data; analyze data to present.
These positions are through the AmeriCorps VISTA program, a program of the federal government. The VISTA assignments are for one year, from February 2012 - February 2013.
